About Neilston Pad Race

Listed Under Active Events

To celebrate 200 years of Neilston Show, this special edition of the padrace is literally going over the top! Our previous route circled the iconic Neilston Pad but this year's route features a visit to the summit cairn, and a few other surprises to keep you on your toes. At 5.6 miles (9k), the route is slightly longer than usual, and still features a little bit of everything: road, path, trail, a splattering of mud, and now the short and steep climb to the top of the Pad. The event starts from the Neilston Show field in Scotland's 6th highest village and, after a short linking section on public roads, the off-road section circles and climbs the Pad before returning via the same route to the finish. It is still primarily a trail race but with a few more ups and downs than usual. Runners of all ability are welcome, - it’s a race for some and a run for others! Our planned route may be changed if there is storm damage or if forestry work is being carried out. Entry to Neilston Show is included so why not make a day of it and enjoy the 200th anniversary Show after you've crossed the finish line?

Basic changing facilities are available for runners and bags can be left in the race tent (though it’s advisable not to leave anything valuable). Parts of the course will be muddy so you are strongly advised to wear off-road shoes.

Entrants for the run must be 16 years of age or over.

Starting point: Neilston Show Field, Uplawmoor Road, Neilston G78 3LE

Registration: 08:45 am to 09:45 pm at the Padrace Tent on the Show Field. (Registration will close promptly at 09:45 pm). The compulsory pre-race briefing takes place at 09:50 am outside the Padrace Tent.

Online entry closes at midnight Thursday 2nd May 2024. On the day entry will be £12, - £6 to enter Show Field and £6 race entry (cash only for race entry).
