Led by esteemed historian, Dr. Stuart Nisbet, take part in a guided walk and follow up talk exploring the history of mining and quarrying in the area. East Renfrewshire was widely mined for coal, limestone and sandstone amongst other things and this class will look at surrounding areas as well as Giffnock. The meeting point for the walk and the talk will be at Giffnock Library.
In the case of inclement weather the walk and talk may be swapped.
Please note: the walk can be up to 2 hours in duration and may include uphill sections and some muddy, grassy terrain.
