Our trained volunteers, many of whom have hearing loss themselves, carry out basic maintenance such as replacing ear mould tubing and batteries, so that people get the best from their hearing aids. They also give advice on equipment that can make life easier in the workplace, or at home, and signpost people to other local support services, such as lip-reading classes or hard of hearing groups. We can also offer hearing checks which give an indication of hearing loss for those who think they might need to go to the GP about it.
We hope that by providing this support out in community spaces it will save some people a trip or potential wait for an appointment at hospital if they have a minor issue. They also can enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the Market Place in Barrhead and the enthusiasm of our lovely volunteers that provide the service!
