Tartan Day

When
21 Apr 2012

Tartan Day is a celebration of Scotland - its people, its heritage, its history, its culture and its amazing legacy to the world. 'Tartan Day', or 'Scotland's Tartan Day', or 'Tartan Day Scotland' on April 6th is the national take on 'Tartan Week' - an initiative run annually at the beginning of April that began 10 years ago in New York to promote all things Scottish. Tartan Week is now international.

East Renfrewshire's Tartan Day is held in Rouken Glen Park every April. There is plenty for all the family on a Scottish theme, past events have included historical re-enactments, falconry, various sporting displays, music, farmers markets, craft stalls and plenty for the children. The event is free.

It provides an opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves and trade in the park. It also brings new people into the area and provides a day out for residents, this in turn impacts the local economy through increased activity in local businesses
