Malls Mire Community Woodland is a Local Nature Reserve in Toryglen. Urban Roots has worked with the community to improve the woodland for people and wildlife since 2009. We run a wide programme of activities including woodland conservation, wellbeing sessions, outdoor education, children's clubs and family events. Malls Mire was the first Community Woodland in Glasgow and was made a Local Nature Reserve in 2015.
The woodland is part of the larger Malls Mire park which includes Malls Mire Wetland, Polmadie Plots Community Garden and Toryglen Park. An accessible path network links all of these sites, making it a great place to explore for everyone.
Our Woodland Conservation Group meets weekly to carry out maintenance and habitat improvements. We use traditional methods such as scything and coppicing to manage the woodland and promote biodiversity. Everyone welcome!
