About West of Scotland Wheelchair Sports Club
The West of Scotland Wheelchair Sports Club has a number of members playing various sports, Wheelchair Tennis, Wheelchair Rugby League and our main sport is Wheelchair Basketball with one of the clubs teams playing in the GBWBA Division North.
Our Club is open to anyone with a physical disability who would enjoy playing Wheelchair Sport. We have a number of players who have represented Great Britain at the Paralympics at both senior and junior levels, at Wheelchair Basketball. Our coaches are qualified through GBWBA accredited courses, ensuring our members are given the best coaches available, we also have a couple of members who have represented Great Britain in the Paralympics in Beijing 2008 at Wheelchair Tennis. Our members attend training sessions for Wheelchair Tennis at Scotstoun Leisure Centre they are run by qualified coaches and also very experienced players.
Our Club run weekly training sessions for Wheelchair Basketball for seniors and juniors/development players, some of our members also attend Wheelchair Tennis session twice weekly.
Our aim is to encourage people with a disability to take up wheelchair basketball, we also encourage able bodied players to participate. This helps if a disabled kid has brother or sister who could play along and keep the interest.
