Martin Wishart to headline feastRen Food and Drink Festival
Michelin star chef, Martin Wishart, is set to headline this years East Renfrewshire Food Festival - feastRen!
feastRen – East Renfrewshire’s Food and Drink Festival is delighted to announce along with its two events partners Whole Foods Market Giffnock and The Cook School Scotland the high calibre of culinary experts and chefs who are taking part in 75 events from 1- 16 September.
Martin Wishart will headline feastRen Food and Drink Festival with “An audience with Martin Wishart” cooking demo and Q and A at 7.30pm on stage at Eastwood Park Theatre on Saturday 8 September.
The centrepiece of the Festival, on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September, in and around Eastwood Park Theatre will be packed with demos, theatre shows and live entertainment as well Whole Foods Market Craft Beer Marquee and the feastRen Producers Village Market, The Cook School Street Food Market and kid’s tent, a live band, livestock, a Crafter’s Co-op, BBQ stand and Tom Lewis’s Fish and Chip Van!
feastRen organisers explained, “feastRen aims is to tantalise the taste buds for the serious foodie, whilst entertaining families and fun lovers and celebrating fresh, culturally diverse delicious food to suit all palates. Having Martin Wishart to headline the festival just takes the East Renfrewshire Food and Drink Festival to a new level,”
Phil Lewis and Jacqueline O’Donnell will kick off the high profile chef spots with a double bill on Thursday 6 September at Eastwood Park Theatre.
This year, John Quigley and Ian Brown are doing intimate demos for 50 people at Whitelee Windfarm, John on Sunday 2 September and Ian on Friday 14 September.
Ex film set chef, Guy Cowan and Two Fat Ladies restaurateur and actor Ryan James are doing a celebrity cook off on Friday 7 September at Eastwood Park Theatre…but who will be there celebrity kitchen porters?
Tom Lewis of Mhor and Monachyle fame will be baking bread and also bringing along his horse box fish and chip van.
Other high profile chefs include, industry legend Joe Queen, Gary McLean, Jewish cuisine expert Hilary Harris and Café Gandolfi’s Seumas MacInnes are all taking part in the festival.
Local restaurants, Wee Cucina, The Turban Tandoori and The New Turban and Eat Delicatessen and The Giffnock Ivy will all demo their signature dishes.
From whisky tastings, Kosher style cooking, Pakora and Curry demo’s, Chinese cooking, cupcake decorating, Italian pizza making, pamper sessions, chocolate tasting and fine dining all have their place in the programme.
Entry to the Festival Weekend is free with some high profile chef events being ticketed.
Local East Renfrewshire restaurants will also be running a special ‘feastRen fortnight festival menu’ promotion.
