Community wardens are taking action over the summer to keep the district clean for local residents.
Areas where complaints have been made by members of the public will be targeted.
Wardens will also be patrolling a number of specific streets and parks.
And East Renfrewshire’s community safety service is warning those who flout the local regulations that they face being issued with a fixed penalty notice.
This summer campaign sees wardens out and about seven days a week.
Patrols are being made on foot. Wardens are in pairs, wearing uniforms and council identification badges.
Among the areas where they’ll be on patrol are Fenwick Road, Giffnock; Main Street, Thornliebank; Main Street, Barrhead; Main Street, Neilston; Clarkston Road; Ayr Road, Barrhead Road and the Broomburn area, Newton Mearns; Busby and Eaglesham Road, Clarkston; and Eaglesham village.
Parks include Rouken Glen and Eastwood, Giffnock; Cowan, Centenary and Arthurlie in Barrhead; Netherlee; Muirend; Overlee and Busby; green spaces in Neilston; and Fordyce Park in Newton Mearns.
Other streets and open spaces will also be checked regularly by the wardens.
Fixed penalty notices will be issued to anyone caught breaking the law. If they are under 16, warning letters will be sent to their parent or guardian.
Convener for community services and community safety, Councillor Mary Montague, said: “The vast majority of local residents want to live in areas that are clean and attractive and would never think of littering our streets or not cleaning up after their dogs.
“However, there are some who do and it is those we are targeting with this summer action plan.
“East Renfrewshire is a wonderful place to live and work and we are working to make sure it stays that way.”
