The team at Eastwood Park Theatre is behind the new series of courses.
And there’s something for everyone, from babies through to teenagers to the over-50s.
Venues are right across East Renfrewshire, including Giffnock, Netherlee and Barrhead.
Classes are taught by experts in their fields in blocks and focus on different skills.
Musical theatre for primary school kids kicks off next week, where children join professional musical theatre performers to learn some Broadway basics in a five-week course.
P4 to P6 classes take place in Netherlee Pavilion from 29 January and P1 to P3 in the same venue from 5 March. Carlibar Primary School in Barrhead is also hosting the course – P4 to P6 from 22 April and P1 to P3 from 27 May. All classes take place from 4 to 5pm.
Young Critics is for 14 to 21-year-olds and sees them work with a professional theatre critic to create responses to shows and events at Eastwood Park Theatre and gallery. Performance tickets are included as part of the course and there will be the opportunity to write for the theatre blog. The 10-week course starts on 30 January, 6.30 to 7.30pm at the theatre.
Play-reading sessions for the over-50s are planned, with two separate courses of
Playing Up on offer, starting 31 January (0ver 10 weeks) and 25 April (nine weeks, 10am to noon at Eastwood Park Theatre). Participants will work with Jennifer Dick, associate director of Bard in the Botanics.
Also for the over-50s is Camera Club – learn to make movies and leave with a DVD of the film you create. This five-week course starts on 4 March at the theatre, 10am to noon.
Cameras with Babies begins on 28 January at Rhuallan House, Giffnock, 10.30am to noon. Practical and hands-on, parents or other carers will learn how to create a short film about them and their baby (aged up to 18 months, five weeks).
Eight to 12-year-olds have the chance to create their own play over a week at Easter. Children will work together to come up with a brand new, mythical tale, that will be performed for friends and family on the last day. From Monday 7 to Friday 11, 10am to 4pm, at the theatre.
And young people have the chance to develop and perform a piece of interactive theatre for Eastwood Park’s popular Early Years Festival in a 10-week course called Calvinball. It’s for 14 to 21-year-olds and takes place at the theatre on Wednesdays from 6 to 7.30pm at the theatre.
There is also a variety of courses for babies and young children.
