The project has now received financial close which means work can finally commence on delivery of this state of the art health and care centre for the people of the Eastwood in East Renfrewshire. A formal announcement by Scottish Government is expected early next week.
The centre which will serve the whole of the Eastwood area, should be open by spring 2016. It will provide a range of GP, clinical, social care and voluntary self help services for the area.
Principal contractor Morgan Sindall has informed residents in the Drumby Crecent vicinity that work will start on site from next Monday. These works are required to allow construction to begin.
On Monday 20 October temporary fencing will be put up across the existing football pitch area and part of car park. The park and ride area will be left free. Work on upgrading Drumby Crescent from the site entrance to the junction with Eastwoodmains Road will start on Monday 27 October.
This will be followed by the removal of excavated material from Monday 1 December.
East Renfrewshire Council has pledged £6.5 million from its general capital funds, and the Scottish Government’s Health Directorate is looking to approve a further £9 million funding through the hub programme.
Councillor Alan Lafferty, Chair of the CHCP Committee, said: “This is wonderful news for East Renfrewshire and the culmination of a huge amount of partnership work between East Renfrewshire Council, NHS, hub West Scotland and Scottish Futures Trust. I am delighted that work can now begin on building this much needed facility.”
