Eastwood Park Leisure and the Barrhead Foundry are both being massively upgraded in January and February.
The gym at Barrhead has already closed to allow the work to take place there, and it is expected to reopen on Wednesday 21 January.
Eastwood Park Leisure will close from Saturday 24 January, reopening on Wednesday 11 February.
Both are being completely gutted to provide the latest range of cardio machines from the equipment manufacturer Pulse Fitness which include high-tech flat screens with online apps and TV access.
There will also be a new wide range of resistance machines, new free weights and functional training areas.
Other improvements include new flooring and fresh new paintwork throughout.
The Barrhead gym is part of the major transformation of the town’s Main Street sports centre into the Barrhead Foundry, a first-class community hub, with a £3.8 million extension, stunning new glass frontage and extensive refurbishment.
Convener for community services and community safety, Councillor Mary Montague, said: "These gyms will be fantastic additions to our centres, with top-of-the-line high-tech equipment throughout.
"Customers will be amazed at the transformation and the facilities that we are able to offer.
"We fully appreciate that having their gyms closed for the refurbishments is an inconvenience, but I’m confident they will love these amazing new gyms.
"Barrhead gym members have also had to deal with the wider building work as we create the Barrhead Foundry, and we appreciate their patience.
"However, I am pleased we have been able to keep the gym open in the main over the past year while this substantial work has been taking place.
"We are investing £3.8 million and once the entire centre is complete, gym members and other users alike will have a wonderful facility."
Barrhead’s new gym’s refurbishment is costing around £200,000, with the remainder of the total being spent on Eastwood Park Leisure.
Some of Eastwood’s equipment is being donated to the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu. The country was teamed with East Ren in last year’s Commonwealth Games as part of the ‘support a second team’ project.
Tuvalu – midway between Australia and Hawaii – has been unable to establish a gym because of the high cost of buying and transporting the equipment there. The Australian High Commission has offered to pay the shipping costs from the UK.
Barrhead Foundry will also boast a new library, learning and meeting spaces, and a business centre. There will be free wi-fi and a soft play area.
In a further boost, the council has joined forces with the University of the West of Scotland and West College Scotland to deliver courses from there.
The Eastwood Park Leisure and Barrhead upgrades follow major improvements to East Ren’s other two sports centres.
A new Eastwood High Sports Centre was built alongside the new school and an exciting new programme of fitness classes is now delivered.
And Neilston Leisure Centre’s pool and changing areas were upgraded in a £350,000 project.
Now in its 30th year, the show is the go-to exhibition for any self-builders or renovators looking for practical tips, expert advice, or the chance to view 1000s of products.
