The theme of the 2015 festival is ‘Whit’s yer passion?’ and the programme for this year’s series of events has launched with interests and pastimes taking centre stage.
The festival which takes place from 1-31 October, aims to celebrate diversity and increase understanding of positive mental wellbeing through the arts and drama.
Events also taking place across East Ren throughout the month include pop-up workshops exploring what local people are passionate about, Arthur Miller play ‘The Last Yankee’ and Bookbug sessions with songs and rhymes for parents, carers and tots.
Throughout the festival information points with details of positive mental health and wellbeing resources will be at Eastwood Council offices; Barrhead Foundry; Barrhead Health and Care Centre; Clarkston library; Giffnock library and Mearns library.
Cllr Alan Lafferty, East Renfrewshire convener for social work and health said: “The aim of the Mental Health Arts and Film Festival is to raise awareness in the community of mental health and the related stigma. This year’s theme is a creative way to get people talking about and exploring solutions to the issues that are close to them.”
The festival is organised by East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care partnership, Acumen and its members and friends, Wise Connections and RAMH.
