River City’s James Mackenzie will star in the brand new ‘Rabbie romcom’ comedy alongside Scottish writer, actress and musician Morna Young. The show will feature the great songs and poems of Burns, including My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose, Ae Fond Kiss and Auld Lang Syne.
The theatre will also be serving up a special pre-theatre dish with traditional Scottish fayre of haggis, neeps and tatties.
Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “We always like to mark the occasion of Burns’ night at Eastwood Park and this year we are really excited to welcome two great Scottish actors, James Mackenzie and Morna Young, to our stage to bring the bard and his work to life and see how much dating has really changed in the last 200 years!
“While the hilarious show is a twist on the Burns’ night tradition, we are definitely sticking to a Scottish favourite in the kitchen, as we offer a pre-theatre serving of haggis, neeps and tatties before the show in our cafe.
“This is set to be our best Burns’ night yet and we would like to invite everyone along to join in the celebrations.”
The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns is written by Gillian Duffy, and Irish author, playwright and producer and follows the story of heartbroken author Ariel Winters, who goes to her aunt’s cottage in Ayrshire to get over her cheating ex. The ghost of Rabbie Burns appears to give her some dating advice – and he knows what he is talking about!
The pre-theatre Burns’ Supper will be served at 6pm and costs £6 per person, while tickets for The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns are priced at £15 standard/ £13 concession and the show starts at 7.30pm.
