Whilst we're disappointed that we won't be able to bring you our usual events in October, the businesses of Barrhead did not want the town to miss out, so we are launching the first ever Big Barrhead Scarecrow Festival.
We're inviting all residents and businesses within the town to design and display a scarecrow in their gardens or windows and let us know where to find it. Our special team of Scarecrow Judges will then pic their favourites to win any one of the £500 worth of prizes we'll be giving away!
Scarecrows can be actual scarecrows made with broom handles, straw and old clothing, or they can be paper and cardboard creations displayed in your windows. Entries will be judged on their creativity, display and impact.
• Entry forms will be available very soon, and to be eligible for a prize you must make an official entry.
• We are looking to secure some town centre display areas for those entrants who wish to make a physical scarecrow but don't have somewhere they can display it.
Don't forget to check out some of our local businesses for materials for your scarecrows. Country Feeds Pet Supplies & Pet Parlour Professional Grooming can supply you with straw for your scarecrow stuffing, you can buy broom handles at Scott's Home Hardware for their arms and body and you'll be able to find some great clothing at our local charity shops! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Big Barrhead Scarecrow Festival are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
