This is the perfect weekend if you are new to (wild) camping and want to experience the joys of sleeping surrounded by stunning landscapes with the safety of an experienced outdoor leader to guide you and make your trip a complete camping success. Over the course of this weekend you'll experience:
- Walking a short distance with a rucksack (4km/2.5 miles; approx 1 hour)
- Choosing a camping spot and setting up a tent
- Preparing and cooking tasty meals on a small camping stove
- Sleeping in a serene environment surrounded by mountains
- A 3 hour walk (without rucksacks) and a wild swim in the river (all optional)
- Arran's unique wildlife and scenery
And you'll find out more about:
- How to plan a wild camping trip: from a one night mini-adventure to a longer trip
- How best to pack and carry a rucksack
- What kit you need and where to get it
- What food to bring and how to cook efficiently and safely
- What to consider in terms of hygiene and safety
- How to leave no trace when camping
What's included:
- All the planning including a checklist of what you need to pack and how to pack it, advice on where to source it, and a loan of kit if you are missing an item (see below)
- Ferry ticket from Ardrossan to Arran
- Campsite fee
- Dinner and breakfast (but you'll need to carry it and cook it yourself!)
- Guiding, support and instruction
