The next Nightlee Night on Sunday 31st August will focus on the infamous Alcatraz Island and it's more daring escape.

Nightlee: Escape from Alcatraz

About Nightlee: Escape from Alcatraz

For thirty years Alcatraz Island was home to one of the most notorious prisons in history.

Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary was deemed to be escape proof. 2 km off the coast of San Francisco surrounded by freezing waters with a incredibly strong current crashing around the island it was said only a fool would dare try to break out.

However, in June 1962 three prisoners - through meticulous planning and makeshift engineering managed to make a break for it.

Using a makeshift raft, they hit the water during the night and all three were never heard from again, leaving behind one of Americas greatest crime mysteries.

Did they make it or did the waters of San Francisco bay swallow them up.

We'll go back to that night and follow there moves step by step and look over the theories and evidence of what happened to them and try and discover their fates!
