Weekly Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi Glasgow South - Home of Flowering Lotus Tai Chi offers classes in the Southside of Glasgow throughout the year.
Regular Beginners classes take place at The Gateway, 100 Merrylee Road, Glasgow
Classes are suitable for complete beginners and all levels of ability. Tai Chi Chuan is normally taught as a sequence of movements called a Form. The Form is usually done slowly and with minimum use of physical strength.
New students at Flowering Lotus Tai Chi classes start by learning the Form You can join a class at any time although most people prefer to join within the first couple of weeks of teaching. It is possible to start later in the form as there is always plenty of revision to allow you to catch up.
Flowering Lotus Tai Chi
Flowering Lotus Tai Chi, based in Glasgow, Scotland, offers teaching in the principles of Tai Chi through practice of the Cheng Man-ching Form, Push Hands, Sabre Form, Sword Form and Fencing.
Tai Chi for Health
Taking the form of a series of slow, meditative body movements that were originally designed for self-defense Tai Chi promotes stress reduction and fosters greater physical awareness improving balance flexibility and strength. In addition to improving general health research suggests that Tai Chi can be of benefit to sufferers of many common health conditions.
As A Meditation
Tai Chi & Meditation Tai Chi is an exercise for the body and mind, offering a way to achieve a natural state of relaxation and a sense of inner peace and calm. It can also be treated as a Spiritual practice providing a way or path (Tao/ Dao) to help deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world we live in.
The Martial Art
As a martial art Tai Chi teaches us a method of dealing with conflict employing its central tenets of relaxation and balance. "The softest in the world overcomes the hardest. The insubstantial can penetrate where there is no opening." Lao Tzu
Tai Chi Teacher
Jamie has been practising Tai Chi since 1999 and is the Founder of Flowering Lotus Tai Chi school on the Southside of Glasgow and the principal teacher at Tai Chi Glasgow South, the home of Flowering Lotus T’ai Chi. Having studied with teacher Jan Kauskas since 2001 Jamie opened the south side branch of his school in 2015 and in October 2021 founded Flowering Lotus Tai Chi when Jan closed Autumn River Tai Chi.
In addition to teaching Tai Chi Jamie is also a fairly well known Scottish Artist, his Scottish Landscape Paintings and prints of Scotland can be viewed at his website Simpson Fine Art.
