Marathon Guy inspires East Ren Run Club
Award-winning running coach Colin Thomas, otherwise known as the Marathon Guy, inspired local runners, offering top tips and advice from his 20-year fitness career.

Colin joined members from Enjoy East Ren's running club, which was founded earlier this year, at Barrhead Foundry, giving an overview of his career to date, his marathon and training tips.
Colin's inspiring talk was arranged Jenna McCallion, who leads Enjoy East Ren's run club. Jenna explained: “I first met Colin over ten years ago at the Clydebank 10k and we did our CIRF coaching a few months later. His career has soared as a professional coach, lead physiologist, and trainer to major marathon winners. Our run club was very excited to welcome Colin along to share his experience with us. We were all left feeling inspired, thankful and motivated!”
Enjoy East Ren's run club has gone from strength to strength, since it launched in May this year, with some members recently completing the Cardiff half marathon together.
Jenna added: “There’s a great sense of community in the run club and it’s fantastic to be outside in the fresh air. We're turning up week in, week out, getting to know each other and becoming good friends.
“We focus on more than distance – we also have technical sessions with shorter distances and reps. It’s varied to keep everyone interested, focused and challenged.
“The run club is for all ages and abilities and our jog leaders are on hand to support everyone. We have runners aged sixteen to their late seventies! Run club is welcoming, friendly, super supportive and so much fun.”
Run club takes place on Monday at 6.15pm, meeting at Barrhead Foundry. Bookings are made via ER Leisure app.
