The building, a former rent office, will be the library’s temporary home - it is set to move into a new state-of-the-art centre next year.
Barrhead Library, in Main Street, is to be demolished along with the old health centre to make way for a new Asda store.
A fantastic new library space is to be created as part of the £3.8m community hub that East Renfrewshire Council is building on the site of the current Barrhead Sports Centre.
In the meantime, the library is to move to Lowndes Street, where work is currently under way to transform the building into a bright and spacious facility.
The current library will close its doors for the last time at 5pm on Saturday 15 June.
Its contents will then be shipped over to the new home, which will open for business on Wednesday 19 June at 9.30am.
Lowndes Street will offer the same great collection of books and other resources for all ages, plus free internet access, and have the same friendly and welcoming staff.
The popular Bookbug sessions will also continue but move to Barrhead Museum and opening hours will stay the same.
The innovative new Barrhead hub will offer upgraded sports facilities, new library, business zone, IT suite, an improved cafe, WiFi and on-site support and advice on employment and getting back to work.
Flexible meeting rooms for conferences, training events and other activities will also be available for community groups and local businesses to book.
The new centre is due to open in autumn next year.
