Local charity Cosgrove Care is seeking volunteer befrienders

We are a local charity providing high quality services to children and adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

Volunteer Befrienders enhance the lives of the adults we support by spending some time sharing ordinary activities such as: going for a coffee, a drink, a walk or cycle around the park; trips to the local cinema, theatre, shops, library; a game of cards, chess, crosswords, going to football matches.
Befrienders will be matched on a one-to-one basis with the aim of sharing common interests and activities. We’re looking for male and female befrienders, of various ages and interests. In return we will offer a full induction, ongoing support and training opportunities to develop valuable skills and experience. All reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred for outings will be met by us.

We would like to hear from people who can give a couple of hours on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

This volunteer role is subject to a Disclosure Check as it involves regular contact with vulnerable adults. All volunteer befrienders are required to provide two references and volunteers who apply to undertake regulated volunteering must apply to be a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
