Clarkston Library first in Scotland to Open More
Clarkston Library is celebrating a new chapter by being the first public library in Scotland to ‘Open More’.

The library’s opening hours will be extended by an extra 27 hours per week, thanks to new technology which allows members to use the library and facilities during additional hours without staff assistance.
Open More registered library customers can access PCs and WiFi, borrow and return books, collect reservations and use the space for studying and reading during extended opening times.
Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “We’re pleased to be the first in Scotland to use Open More in Clarkston Library as we know it will be a great benefit to our local community.
“Open More members will be able to access the library space, services and resources once they have registered and it’s easy to sign up by speaking to a member of library staff.
“I’m sure it will be welcomed by everyone, from current library users who will have greater flexibility to those who work full-time and may not have been able to access the library previously, as well as people looking for a study space or use WiFi.”
Members can now register to be an Open More member in the library, which will give them access from 9.30am – 10pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am – 6pm on Saturdays.
A newly installed access system will allow registered library members to use the library during the extended hours.
