Nominations now open for East Renfrewshire Citizen of the Year 2024
East Renfrewshire Council has today (28 October) begun its search for Citizen of the Year 2024 as it looks to celebrate a resident who goes the extra mile.

The Council is asking local people to come forward and nominate a volunteer who they believe makes a difference in East Renfrewshire.
Each year, the Council honours an unsung hero with the Provost Award and names them Citizen of the Year, acknowledging the significant contribution they make to their community.
Clarkston resident, Sandra Douglas was recognised as Citizen of the Year 2023 for her work as the founder and driving force behind Back to SchoolBank East Renfrewshire in Spiersbridge, Thornliebank.
Back to SchoolBank East Renfrewshire is based on the concept of a food bank and aims to ensure that children across the local authority have brand-new school uniforms and all of the school essentials that they need, whilst ensuring dignity and compassionate support for their carers.
Provost Mary Montague said: “I’m looking forward to being a part of the judging process again this year for the Provost Award 2024. The calibre of nominations we receive each year is always very high, and it’s clear there are so many hardworking and selfless residents across East Renfrewshire who dedicate most of their spare time to make a real and positive difference to the lives of people in their local community – from providing essential services, supporting and helping others, to making improvements to their area.
“If you know of a volunteer who continually goes above and beyond in East Renfrewshire to make a positive impact, then please take a few minutes to complete a nomination form on the Council’s website and help us to say thank you.”

The final day to submit nominations is Sunday 10 November 2024. Nominees must live in East Renfrewshire and have volunteered in their local community for a number of years to be eligible.
