The Grid celebrates first anniversary with launch of new running club
Fitness members celebrated one year of dedicated functional training space, The Grid, at Barrhead Foundry, with the launch of a brand new inclusive running club.

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure's outdoor running club will officially begin on 12 May, led by Gyms and Group Fitness Officer, Jenna McCallion.
Jenna explained: “Our new outdoor running club for all abilities running 5-10k per session. It is coach led, with the support of our Jog Leaders. It's welcoming, friendly, super supportive and fun. Please come along and join us!”
East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure hosted a first birthday fitness morning for The Grid to mark the occasion, featuring the running club taster session as well as high-impact group training sessions, including GridRox and GridCon, and a conditioning class.
The Grid's work-out area was transformed from an underutilised space and is now a dynamic and versatile fitness area for training sessions, small groups and individual gym users. The Grid features a 70sqm spacious turf area along with new fitness equipment, including fitness rig, half rack and prowler.
Gyms and fitness team leader Kenny McDonnell said: “The Grid has proved to be a hugely successful addition to our fitness offering at Barrhead Foundry and it was fantastic to celebrate its success with our fitness members.
“Our fitness team love helping our customers achieve their goals and enjoy regular physical activity and investments like The Grid really help us to deliver this in a modern setting.”
Fitness members are also benefitting from brand new gym equipment at Barrhead Foundry's main gym and Eastwood Park Leisure, featuring brand-new Technogym cardio and fixed-strength equipment across both sites, to support customers on their fitness journey.
