Eastwood House, the beautiful C-listed mansion house situated in Eastwood Park, will present the unique opportunity to learn about its past life as a private estate. Eastwood House has been a home and place of work to many people and part of the area's social, economic and cultural life since it was built in the 1830s, and now serves as a wedding venue, conference and activity space. Tours will take place on Sunday 21 September, offering participants the chance to hear stories of the past, while enjoying its architecture and celebrating its current and future role as a busy community resource.
Eastwood Park Theatre will also offer exclusive behind-the-scenes access and insight into its past and present. The conventional Proscenium arch theatre was built in 1973 as part of the leisure complex in Eastwood Park and is now a thriving visual and performing arts venue. A series of guided tours will take place on Sunday 21 September, offering the opportunity to explore behind the scenes at the theatre, with a member of technical staff on hand with a demonstration of equipment used at events.
Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “We are immensely proud of Eastwood House and Eastwood Park Theatre – both have rich histories and are thriving cultural venues at the heart of our local community.
“Eastwood Park Theatre has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and we have welcomed audiences from near and far, attracting well-known names to our stage, including Lulu, Marti Pellow and Eddi Reader. Eastwood House, with its grand sweeping staircases and beautifully appointed rooms, hosts a variety of events, from weddings and conferences to our growing programme of arts and heritage events and activities.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone along for the unique chance to learn more about our venues, their history and the part they play in bringing our local community together.”
Drop-in art activities for families also running throughout the day in the gallery space at Eastwood Park Theatre.
Spaces on the tours are limited, so please book to guarantee your place. Eastwood House is also open to visitors who prefer to look around on their own rather than as part of a tour.
