Scottish karate champion set for competitive season
Scottish karate champion Dylan Rush is looking forward to competing in series of international competitions over the coming weeks.

Dylan, who was crowned Scottish karate champion for the eleventh time last year, will travel to Austria, Switzerland and Kuala Lumpur and compete against some of the highest ranking karate champions in the world.
Dylan, from Johnstone, explained: “I’ve got a busy second half of my season, with the Basel Open Masters in August and the Series A Karate Championship in Salzburg in September.
“I’m competing in the English Open in London and topping it off with the Series A in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October.
“I'm hoping to string up some good performances and get into the top 100 again. I want to give a good performance and make it worthwhile - it's exciting times.”
Dylan, who started karate at the age of six, works as a gym instructor for East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, helping others to achieve their fitness goals.
Dylan added: “I love working with our fitness members, devising a training programme that suits their needs and goals and seeing their progress and achievements.
“I’m using The Grid functional training space at Barrhead Foundry as often as I can for strength and conditioning training, as well as Eastwood Park Leisure’s gym, alongside my karate training. As an East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure employee, I’m really lucky to have a free gym membership. It’s a huge financial help to me and the equipment is state of the art.”
