Barrhead Belters spread Christmas cheer across East Renfrewshire
The Barrhead Belters, a choir formed through East Ren Health and Social Care Partnership Community Pathways service, are bringing festive spirit to care homes and community events this Christmas!

Originally created to perform at last year’s Community Pathways Christmas Coffee Morning, the group was such a hit with service users that it continued beyond the holidays, evolving into a karaoke-style choir where everyone brings their own musical taste.
This year, the Barrhead Belters have taken their talents on tour, performing at Community Transport’s afternoon tea, Applecross Care Home, The Firs, Parkhouse Manor, and soon Norwood and Westlea Care Homes and Community Pathways Christmas coffee morning.
Being part of the choir has had a hugely positive impact on participants, boosting confidence and wellbeing. Singing together is not only fun but also proven to support physical and mental health.
Community Pathways offers day opportunities and outreach support for people with learning disabilities and additional support needs. The choir is just one example of how the service helps people connect, learn new skills, and enjoy meaningful experiences.
Councillor Katie Pragnell, Chair of East Renfrewshire Integration Joint Board, said: “Community Pathways is all about creating opportunities for people to thrive. The Barrhead Belters show how music can bring joy and connection—not just to participants, but to the wider community.”
