Major road works planned for East Kilbride Road

East Kilbride Road between Sheddens Roundabout in Clarkston and The Crescent in Busby is to undergo major road repairs. East Renfrewshire Council's road improvements team will commence the works on Monday 19 March through to Sunday 15 April 2012.
The existing worn out road surface will be replaced and minor improvements will be made to the footway along the route.
In order to keep traffic flowing the roads crews will keep the road open for as much time as possible whilst working under traffic management restrictions.
The works will be carried out in four stages.
• From Monday 19 March to Friday 30 March the carriageway between Sheddens Roundabout and Field Road in Busby will be resurfaced.
• On Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April East Kilbride Road will be closed completely at the railway bridge to allow for the carriageway to be resurfaced. Traffic diversions will be put in place.
• From Monday 2 April to Thursday 5 April resurfacing work will be undertaken on the carriageway between Field Road and the railway bridge.
• From Thursday 10 April to Sunday 15 April the carriageway between the railway bridge and The Crescent in Busby will be resurfaced.
East Kilbride Road will be open to through traffic for the duration of the works except for Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April when it will be closed at the railway bridge to all traffic except emergency vehicles. Traffic diversions will be signposted.
Owing to the nature of the traffic management drivers should anticipate delays, particularly at peak times and, if it is at all possible, they should seek an alternative route whilst the works are ongoing.
