Susan is East Renfrewshire Councils new liaison officer
Sergeant Susan Gillon has been appointed as East Renfrewshire Council's new local authority liaison officer.

Susan will be based at Giffnock police station and will be the force's link with the council and the community.
Susan is already a well know face throughout East Renfrewshire having been involved in front line community based policing in the Barrhead and Neilston areas and Giffnock for a number of years.
She was also one of the first campus officers and was based at Eastwood High School for three years before going back to the office and was acting sergeant for a year with the active response team in Barrhead.
Then it was back to Giffnock and was recently promoted to her new post as sergeant.
A native of Kilmarnock she gave up a career as a sales manager in retail to join the police in 1996.
“I am really looking for the challenge this new position will bring. I have a wealth of knowledge of East Renfrewshire working with the council in various areas of problem solving.
“I’ll continue to work with the council combating those issues that concern residents such as youth disorder, domestic disputes and cold callers.”
Susan is also supervisor of the five campus police officers based at Mearns Castle, Eastwood, Barrhead, Woodfarm and St Luke’s high schools.
Chief Inspector Alan Murray said: “Sgt Gillon’s appointment is crucial to us. This is an additional post so we now have an extra sergeant in East Renfrewshire.
“It is a significant resource commitment from Chief Superintendent Andy Bates, therefore it is incumbent on myself and our community policing inspector Campbell Crawford to ensure that there are tangible benefits for the police, East Renfrewshire Council and the residents.
“I would anticipate the job will evolve over time but the main responsibility of the LALO will be to maximise partnership opportunities and to ensure that our efforts are properly focused on keeping people.
“This will not be an admin post. Rather, it will be front facing and an important part of our community policing operations.”
