Get real with street theatre style in Barrhead
Street theatre style performance is coming to Barrhead in October as part of this year's Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival!

Scenes, songs and monologues of real stories and fiction will be acted out in the foyer of the Barrhead Health and Care Centre on the morning of Tues 8 October.
The free, interactive theatre will be performed by East Ren residents and will explore sensitive and challenging issues. Those involved promise it will be fun, fast and poignant.
‘Reality’ is the theme of this year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival festival which runs from 1 to 26 October. The annual event aims to celebrate diversity and increase understanding of positive mental wellbeing through the arts and drama.
Cllr Alan Lafferty, convener for social work and health said: “The aim of the interactive theatre is to get people talking about and exploring solutions to the issues that matter to them. This is powerful way to raise awareness in the community, of mental health and the related stigma.”
Creative Training Unlimited is delivering the sessions. The group works with adults with mental health issues on behalf of East Renfrewshire CHCP. They run weekly drama sessions to enable people to have fun and build confidence whilst developing team work and presentation skills.

The ‘Get Real’ Creative Training Unlimited production – sketches, songs and laughs to make us think about reality – will be at Barrhead Health and Care Centre, Main Street, Barrhead on Tuesday 8 Oct from 10.30am to 12.30pm. There will be 20 minutes sketches performed periodically throughout the morning. The event is free and no booking is required.
