Top press photographer, Martin Sheilds explains, "A photomarathon is not a physical endurance test, it's a photography competition with a difference!"
All you have to do turn up at Eastwood Park Theatre, Giffnock at 10am on Saturday 20 October, using any digital format you wish: camera, smart phone or tablet, and you will then receive your first topic and you are then free to go and photograph your interpretation of that topic heading.
Then each hour, on the hour, a new topic heading will be released by Twitter, Facebook, text message or by calling our hotline to get the new topic heading, or if you like, you can pick it up in person.
Once your final shot is taken, you can then edit or apply any special effect you wish to enhance your shots, but you must meet the deadline and get your 6 shots emailed in by midnight on Saturday 20 October.
After the Photomarathon day, all the images are collated and printed. Your entries will be judged by a highly prestigious panel of Herald and Sunday Herald photographers, Martin Sheilds, Colin Mearns and Elaine Livingstone.
All of the submissions will be graded on creativity, improvisation and best interpretation of the topic heading.
All participants are then invited to attend the award ceremony that will take part on Friday 2 November at Eastwood Park Theatre at 7.30pm where the top 3 best entries will be announced and presented with their own very special awards and prizes.
All the photos, all of them, then go on show in a free public exhibition at Eastwood Park Theatre and run until Sunday 18 November.

1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will all be invited to a bespoke photography masterclass with Elaine Livingstone.
All top 3 winners will be presented a very special award

Photographers can take part remotely as topic headings will be released through Twitter, Facebook and by phone. They must request this when they register.
The Rules
1. All copyright is shared between the event organisers - East Renfrewshire Council and the photographer. Images will likely be used in future marketing materials and will also be circulated to the press including The Herald.
2. All contestants are free to edit their shots and use any software packages they wish.
3. All six images must be submitted by midnight on Saturday 20 October.
4. Each image must be no more than 2MB
5. All images submitted must be jpegs.
6. Each image must have the file name of the topic title.
7. There is no restriction on age.
8. Judges will grading the entries on creativity, improvisation and best interpretation of the topic heading.
