Armed Forces Day, a free family day out!

Don’t miss East Renfrewshire’s Armed Forces Day on 21 June, it promises to be a fabulous family day out in Rouken Glen Park!

It will open at 12.15pm with the rising of the Armed Forces Day flag at the park’s Pavilion.

There will be a military parade of serving and retired servicemen and women together with pipe and military bands at 1pm.

This annual day out is intended to celebrate and remember our armed forces and offer a taste of military life.

This will be followed by a march to the events area by more than 150 veterans, reservists, cadets and serving soldiers.

There will then be a series of activities in the main arena, with something for all ages.

You can also take time out at the Pavilion to meet local veterans from Barrhead and hear their memories and experiences of life in the armed forces.

Armed Forces Day is a national celebration designed to five people the opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community, from serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets.
