About Food and Recipe Writing Workshop

LEARN TO WRITE ABOUT FOOD IN A SENSORY WAY AS WELL AS MASTER THE ART OF RECIPE WRITING.

Sumayya will help you tap into your senses, and teach you the art of recipe writing as well as writing about food in a sensory way.

Sumayya will also share some general information on getting a cookbook published.

This workshop is for you:

• If you’re whether you’re looking to write a cookbook
• Work to build a professional food writing career
• Merely document your family recipes.
• Want to learn how to cook parathas, chapattis, rotis and fresh chutneys while learning to write perfect recipes

Sumayya’s teaching style is nurturing and she’s generous with knowledge. She has over a decade of experience in food writing, and is the author of two award-winning cookbooks and one award-winning food memoir and has written for many well-known publications over the years. Read more about Sumayya below.

In this very intimate and informal 4 hour workshop you will learn the following:

• Creative writing techniques that will help you work deeply on writing about food and learn how to write in a sensory way.
• Basic recipe writing techniques and what to look out for
• How to write a food narrative
• How to pitch a cookbook or a food writing piece
• Learning to write recipes by engaging the senses - with a cookery demo (and this will be your lunch too).

The workshop is held at Sumayya's home in Glasgow. It’s intimate and therefore limited places to make it unique, personal and friendly.

You’ll be treated with seasonal fresh chutneys and a flatbread demo and tasting with tea and coffee.
