About Summer Science Workshops

The theme this year is 'What on Earth' and each workshop will investigate a different aspect of our lives and history on Earth.

Week 1 will be 'What on Earth' is Weather where participants will learn about what is the difference between weather and climate?
Why is it sunny during summer and snowy during winter and why does it matter?
How important is our climate and why do we need to protect it.
We'll learn all about the weather and craft our own weather vane so we always know which way the wind is blowing!

Week 2 is What on Earth is the Earth?
When did our planet form, what is it made of and how did it come to look like it does today? How do plate tectonics work and why are the continents moving?
Discover the answers to these questions and more in this workshop all about planet Earth.

Week 3 is What on Earth are Dinosaurs! Learn all about Dinosaurs! We’ll discuss different species, what happened to the dinosaurs and how fossils are made. We’ll journey through the Triassic, Jurassic before stopping off at the Cretaceous Period to see what we can discover!

Week 4 is What on Earth are Natural Disasters. What goes on below the earths crust! Why do Volcanoes erupt and the Earth shakes during an Earthquake.
Above the Crust Hurricanes barge across the ocean. Tornados cause havoc on land and Tsunamis crash into the coast. We'll learn what is happening with each of them. How we can predict and prepare for them.

Week 5 is What on Earth are Humans! We are going to learn all about Humans! how Civilizations can grow and Empires crumble. How Humans work and what makes the Human race so successful. From simple Hunter Gatherers to Great Kingdoms, we'll journey through the age of humanity.

There are more workshops still to be announced but tickets are already selling well so don't delay and miss out!
